A group of Polish Catholics led by Artur Dąbrowski, president of Catholic Action of the Archdiocese of Częstochowa, has issued an open letter criticizing the Synod on Synodality. The authors describe the Synod's Final Document as “deeply anti-Catholic,” arguing that it risks replacing the Church's unchanging Deposit of Faith with an ideology centered on inclusion, consensus, and process. The Synod adopts elements similar to Germany's Synodal Path, particularly through the relativization of doctrine and the decentralization of authority. Particular criticism is directed at the description of synodality as a “constitutive dimension” of the Church. The authors argue that this undermines the traditional understanding of the Church as defined by its marks of unity, holiness, catholicity, and apostolicity. Today, Pope Leo XIV travelled to Spain's Canary Islands, one of Europe's migration hotspots, to deliver a highly emotional and moralizing address. On May 30, the parish priest of Villanueva del Río y Minas, southern Spain, told parishioner José Antonio Hurtado, who lives in a homosexual “marriage,” that he may no longer receive Holy Communion. The Catholic Women's Community of Germany (kfd) has called for abortions to be permitted in Catholic hospitals, adopting the position at its federal assembly in Mainz last weekend.
