However, the site would require a municipal change of use. Venice Mayor Simone Venturini says the conditions for approval are not currently met, citing planning and integration concerns. Association president Prince Howlader threatened a strike in late August. He claimed Bangladeshi workers could disrupt tourism, hotels and restaurants. However, workers and unions showed limited support, and the protest was put on hold for talks.
