Former Catholic Seminary to Become Muslim Boarding School

The former Catholic seminary and boarding school in Bay Shore, New York, is set to become a Muslim boarding school, reports LiBn.com on July 15. The United American Muslim Association (UAMA) purchased the building for $5.2 million.
The 6,500-square-metre centre, founded in 1926 by the Montfort Missionaries, was used to train priests before later serving as a retreat house.
Pending approval of a zoning change, the new owners intend to establish an Islamic boarding school for up to 120 boys.
According to its website, UAMA aims to provide an education in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah.
However, local residents have organised opposition to the proposal, with many displaying 'NO Boarding School' signs throughout the neighbourhood.

Rupnik Said Trial "Going Very Well for Him" - Report

Italian journalist Luigi Casalini of MessaInLatina.it is standing by his reporting on the Vatican's canonical trial of Rev. Marko Ivan Rupnik after the Holy See denied reports that the judges had reached a decision.
Yesterday, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni called claims of any judicial deliberation "absolutely unfounded."
However, Casalini argues today that the Vatican refuted something his publication never claimed. His sources indicated that certain allegations had been removed from the proceedings because they lacked sufficient evidence or did not constitute offenses under Canon Law - not that a final verdict had been reached.
"The question," Casalini writes, "is whether our report is unfounded, or whether the only unfounded claim - one we never made - is that a final judgment has already been reached."
Casalini's most striking point concerns a recent conversation with Rupnik. He says a mutual acquaintance spoke with the former Jesuit about twenty days ago, during which Rupnik …Has köp

Ukraine and Russia

Instaurare Omnia in Christo

Unfortunately, it seems "most" Ukrainians know what's going on. And the Russians know all to well what's going on and who's behind it all.
Both want to destroy nazism in Ukraine. The Ukrainian people wrote to Putin to destroy their conscription offices. and Russia obliged them. They wrote to President Putin since before 2014 to come and save them. But President Putin is extremely wise and knew what the west was looking for. But in 2014, he had enough. Broken hearted that so many people and mostly children were dying. So he finally stepped in and trying to be very careful not to provoke the west. But it doesn't take much to provoke them and give them a reason to attack Russia and to help the nazi government of Ukraine. In the end, Russia will be victorious in many ways. Let them try to destroy Russia. GOD has great plans for her and no evil man or otherwise can stop it.

Young Prevost's Student Pranks: A Laxative Disguised as Candy and Late-Night TV

Anecdotes about Pope Leo XIV's student years at the International College of St. Monica in Rome, belonging to the Augustinian Fathers, are published in the new Vatican News documentary Leone a Roma.
An Augustinian friar recalls that fellow students played "so many jokes" on him—"so many."
One night he woke convinced an airplane was circling outside his window. The brothers had hidden a ringing radio on top of his wardrobe, leaving him searching for the mysterious noise in the middle of the night.
On another occasion, someone offered this friar what he thought was a candy. "They said to me, 'Here, I would like to offer you a candy.' So I thought it was a candy, but instead it was a laxative tablet. As a result, while I was in the chapel I had to run to the bathroom." The documentary accompanies the story with the photo of a smiling young Robert Prevost, without suggesting who was responsible.
Another friar recalls that the future pope would squeeze into his room every single evening to …Has köp

James Martin SJ Wants the Church to Ordain [More] Homosexual Priests: Homosexual activist Fr James Martin SJ has called on Pope Leo XIV to remove the – largely unenforced – restrictions against "celibate homosexuals" to become priests. Fr Martin believes that "sexual orientation" alone should not stop a man from being ordained. He points to Pope Francis, who said there are already many "holy, healthy and celibate" homosexual priests. However, in 2005 Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger concluded that men with deep-seated homosexual temptations should not enter the seminary because they lack the emotional maturity needed for lifelong celibacy.

Father James Martin calls for ‘gay priests’

Continuing his public advocacy on LGBT issues, Fr James Martin SJ has argued that the Catholic Church should officially admit ‘gay’ priests. In a new essay published by his pro-LGBT organisation Outreach, Fr James Martin has presented his case for why the Church should admit homosexuals to the priesthood. He notes that he is only in favour of admitting celibate men, but after establishing that as the foundation of his argument, the prominent Jesuit calls on the Church to change its rules regarding seminary admission and ordination.

Bishop Prevost's Handling of Abuse: Accused Priest Dies Without Investigation

Peruvian priest Ricardo Yesquén Paiva has died at the age of 59 without ever facing a canonical or civil investigation into allegations that he sexually abused a 10-year-old girl in 2006.
In September 2024, the Diocese of Chiclayo said Yesquén suffered from a "serious degenerative illness" that left him incapable of defending himself in canonical proceedings. The diocese never identified the illness.
The complainants disputed the explanation, pointing to official diocesan records and photographs showing him at public liturgical events through at least early 2023, contradicting claims that he had long ceased exercising ministry.
One image from January 2023 shows then-Bishop Robert Prevost - now Pope Leo XIV - celebrating a birthday alongside Yesquén, nearly three years after the first complaint.
The case gained international attention because the first complaint against Yesquén reached Bishop Prevost as early as March 2020, while he led the Diocese of Chiclayo.

The Vatican’s statement on the Rupnik trial came a day after Laura Sgrò, a civil and canon lawyer who represents five women who have accused Father Rupnik of abuse, rebuked the Holy See’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, saying she and her clients have no information about the case, and they had not been informed whether the trial even began. Sgrò told OSV News July 21 that she had not received confirmation from the Vatican as to whether the trial had begun. The July 22 Vatican press statement confirmed for her and her clients that the trial is indeed underway. “The Church, like the victims, needs transparency, justice, and truth,” Sgrò urged.

After attorney pressed for transparency, Vatican answers rumors of Rupnik’s alleged acquittal

(OSV News) — The Vatican has pushed back against reports that former Jesuit Father Marko Rupnik has been acquitted in his Vatican criminal trial. In a July 22 statement, the Vatican said rumors of an acquittal are “completely unfounded” and confirmed the canonical trial is still under review. Officials said judges continue examining evidence from dioceses, the Jesuits, alleged victims and media reports. The press release came a day after Laura Sgrò, a civil and canon lawyer who represents five women who have accused Father Rupnik of abuse, rebuked the Holy See’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, saying she and her clients have no information about the case, and they had not been informed whether the trial even began. ‘Review of the case is still ongoing’ On July 20, Italian website Messainlatino.it reported that Father Rupnik, a well-known mosaic artist accused of abusing several women, may have been acquitted. “INCREDIBLE! Survey: Brazilian Catholic Youth Seek Stronger Doctrine, Reverent Liturgy

Young Catholics in Brazil are expressing a desire for deeper faith formation, greater emphasis on holiness, and well-celebrated liturgy, while also voicing frustration with what they see as an excessive focus on sociopolitical issues in the Church, according to a national survey presented to the Brazilian Bishops' Conference (CNBB).
The 2025 survey, conducted by the CNBB's Episcopal Commission for Youth with academic partners, gathered responses from more than 11,000 Catholics aged 12 to 29 across Brazil. It used a voluntary online questionnaire rather than a representative random sample.
According to the partial results (document below), holiness and the Christian faith were the most frequently cited topics of interest among respondents.
Many also expressed a desire for stronger formation in Catholic teaching, greater emphasis on Scripture and the Eucharist, and well-celebrated liturgy.
Asked what makes participation in the Church more difficult, respondents most often pointed to a lack …Has köp

Vatican News Normalises In Vitro Fertilisation

VaticanNews.va – the Vatican's costly news portal with a modest online audience – published the Article “Assisted Reproduction: When AI Is Used Against Humans” on July 21 about the ethical implications of artificial intelligence in in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
The article treats the intrinsically evil IVF as an established form of "medically assisted reproduction" and focuses on the risks posed by automation.
The author of the article is Davide Dionisi, who worked for more than 25 years at Radio Vaticana–Vatican News and is now Italy's Special Envoy for the Promotion of Freedom of Religion and the Protection of Religious Minorities.
He relies throughout on comments from Laura Palazzani, a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
Palazzani argues that technology should "support the clinical process" rather than replace the physician. She insists that doctors remain indispensable during procedures including "the retrieval and processing of gametes, in vitro fertilisation, and the culture …Has köp

Nuncio Gänswein Praises Leo XIV and Trump - Attacks Putin

Archbishop Georg Gänswein, currently Nuncio to the Baltic States, praised Pope Leo XIV and U.S. President Donald Trump while attacking Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with DomRadio.de on July 22.
Monsignor Gänswein said Pope Leo XIV has brought "a new sense of relief" to the Church.
"Peace is the key word," he believes. "From his very first address, Pope Leo placed the peace of the Risen Christ at the center of his message."
According to the nuncio, the Pope's emphasis on peace has [allegedly] transformed the atmosphere. "It has turned headwinds into tailwinds. Whether that wind will change again remains impossible to predict."
Bond with Pope Benedict XVI
Reflecting on his years alongside Benedict XVI, Archbishop Gänswein said their relationship developed from a professional one into a close personal friendship.
"We not only worked together but also lived under one roof and spent every day together," he recalled. "During the ten years after his resignation, our relationship …Has köp

Cotignac Shrines Survive Devastating Wildfire: A major wildfire in southeastern France burned more than 2,500 hectares, destroyed around 60 homes, forced the evacuation of 500 people, and injured four people. Although the flames came within meters of the pilgrimage sites of Our Lady of Graces and Saint Joseph of Cotignac, both sanctuaries were left undamaged, thanks in part to firefighters and vegetation-clearing efforts.

The shrines of Cotignac remain intact after a devastating fire in southern France

The shrines of Our Lady of Graces and Saint Joseph of Cotignac, two of the main pilgrimage centers in France, remain intact after the forest fire that between Tuesday and Wednesday ravaged more than 2,500 hectares in the Var department, in the southeast of the country. The fire destroyed nearly 60 homes, forced the evacuation of about 500 people and mobilized more than 900 firefighters, including personnel from other regions of southern France. The flames reached the surroundings of Cotignac during the night, one of the best-known medieval villages in Provence, whose population multiplies during the summer. Although the fire came within a few meters of the two shrines, both buildings were ultimately unharmed. Evacuation of the shrines Faced with the advance of the fire, the authorities ordered the evacuation of the shrine of Our Lady of Graces and the monastery of Saint Joseph of Bessillon. The religious communities, pilgrims, families present and groups of young people participating in …

The Massachusetts House of Representatives just PASSED a bill that REMOVES the 24-week limit on abortions.

This post offers another clear instance of the place where faithful Catholics meet the political apparatus of the United States, a constitutional republic ordered toward the common good. The intersection is not optional. It arises from the duty to protect the innocent and to order society according to truth.
There remain those who claim one can be fully pro-life and authentically Catholic while remaining entirely detached from the political sphere. That position cannot be sustained. The defense of human life from conception is a public responsibility as well as a private conviction. When the law and the culture fail to safeguard the weakest, Catholics are not free to withdraw. Engagement with the temporal order is required by the very faith that declares every human life sacred.
